[:1]I've just gotten started with blood tanking and have pieced together a pretty "decent" set for non-heroics. I also read the update 4.1 sticky for dk tanking and had a question on glyphs. I know I don't quite have any glyphs yet (need to also change my weapon rune) for blood but is the vampiric blood glyph worth it? 15% extra healing at the cost of the 15% health buff. On one side 15% extra healing on top of what? 25% already? would be very nice for fights where your taking heavy damage even with cd's popped. But you also kinda lose your oh shi! button if you suddenly take a huge chunk of damage and the heals might not have time to save you before that next swing takes you out. Making the extra health you gained a small chance at surviving. Now I'm saying this in totally situational circumstances because most blood dks who are death striking effectively shouldn't take a lot of damage unless its caster (AMS only lasts for so long). Thoughts anyone? If you have a healer and were healing a blood dk which would you prefer? Glyphed or Unglyphed? Thanks to anyone who responds.
Glyphed Wall of Text
To me, its hands down in favor of Glyphed.
Just as you said, if your maintaining a decent rotation, and healer(s) are maintaining a decent "pattern", i guess would be the right word, you rarely should drop like a rock that fast, and really if your in a situation where you can lose 100k health in a second, more than likely the 15-25k health gain will not keep that next hit from smashing your face, but, the ability for your deathstrike and a heal or 2 from your healer, to pretty much pop you back to full health, that, is priceless.
In short, since its not health whackamole anymore, over-time productivity > temporary "oh s#$%" button. IMO
Oh and yes that 15% increase is on top of the 25%, so makes you receive 40% additional healing when VB is active and glyphed.
Ok thanks. It was serious and I honestly wasn't sure what I was missing when reading the glyph. This is my first tank so I wasn't sure if health would be like "whackamole." or not. Thanks for clarifying. Makes a lot more sense to me now
All in all, the glyph is good, but the sacrifice is for the other glyphs.
DRW - Depends on how much damage your DPS are pulling, and how much threat you put out. Still a pretty good one to have, for AoE and single target.
AMS - Depends on the fight, but generally a really good one to have.
Rune Tap - Depends on how much you're using it, and the fight to a lesser degree. One of the better ones to have.
Then there's Vampiric Blood. Yes, it's better glyphed than unglyphed in pretty much every circumstance, but does it outweigh the others? In most cases, I'd say leave it unglyphed.
If you trust your healers, use it. Make sure to tell them when you use it.
If you don't trust them, it's bad.
Glyped for almost every fight except for Chimaeron.
