[:1]Impetuous Query
or
Leaden Despair
I just got Leaden dispair and swapped it in over my Query. So now I have Throngus' finger/Leaden Despair.
I reforged some EXP into Mastery to get my mastery back to 20, and my min shield is about 1500 more than it was.
Plus I has 6k more stamina, which incrase Rune Tap and Death Pact more.
I consider Leaden Despair better, if you can compensate the loss of mastery.
If you don't need the extra stamina, take Impetuous Query. If you don't remember to use Impetuous Query, use Leaden Despair.
The armor proc on Leaden Despair really isn't all that good, considering that small damage reduction isn't going to do much when you're already pretty low.
I macro IQ to my Vampiric Embrace.

Frost PvP priority?
[:1]I read in another thread to not even use Obliterate until they have <35% health, and am confused. What exactly is our priority?
To me, it's a preference issue (flame on, kids...I know you will). I prefer to use Oblit consistently when it's available, prioritizing it over FS when Killing Machine procs for obvious reasons. I've been able to survive fights BG's against blood DK's & rogues without any issue.

DW solo blood spec viable?
[:1]Was thinking about a DW solo blood spec and gearing. I know DW isnt viable tanking normally due to threat but without threat being issue as your only person there, was looking at this spec as dw.
Ideas improvements?

ANY DW Build without Threat of Tharnassian is a joke.
Since they moved ToT way down into the frost tree, DW as blood is dead.
Sure go for it, just dont call it DW, cause its not. You would pretty much be tanking with a 1 hander.
Worst idea ever.
Well, I actually read your post, as opposed to responding to "DW....Blood"
It's pretty decent for soloing (I'm assuming old content), but you'd want to pick up 3/3 SoB as you'll be burning through RP like a mofo.
Drop aboms might, for just yourself it's quite minor.
pick up NoCS, it increases you hit, which you'll actually want because bloodworms are really one of the only main draws to the build for soloing, and landing hits will get more of them.
Last I read, DW blood works for trivial content/5 man dungeons. So it being a complete joke isn't entirely true.
You can do it, but you lose more than 1/2 your damage for a small amount of survival. If you are solo'ing, that extra survival is always easier to come by with more effective play.
There's nothing you can do with DW blood that you can't do better with 2 hand blood.
The only real gain you get is more Bloodworms, which, I don't particularly know how effective that will be, depending on the content you're doing.
You lose a good portion of DPS, so if you're referring to solo-ing old bosses, you might run into berserk timers, which would be counterproductive.
It's so funny to watch the waters froth in the DK forum whenever someone brings up DW Blood.

How is DW Frost in Cata?
[:1]Hey all,
I just received seven days of free game time from Blizzard as a way to get me to resub. I've been gone from WoW since the end of Wrath. I was DW Frost. And before I renew my sub, I'm just wondering how this spec does in BGs for PvP, and how it does for heroics in PvE, since those are the activities I like to do most. I'm pretty sure they still do good solo questing/grinding. Thanks so much for the feedback!
...Keith?
Huh?
DW/2h Frost is great now. Does a lot of dps and is really easy to pull off. I don't pvp so I don't know anything about that.
Nevermind, a friend of mine recently got the same game time as you.
To get on topic, I DW Frost and I perform just fine.
However, I am obliged to inform you that 2H DOES tend to perform better in PvP. However DW Frost is doable.
2H:
Higher Base Weapon Stats
Harder Hitting NS
More RP Generation
More Runic Empowerment Procs due to more Frost Strikes
DW:
Room for a 2nd Runeforge/Enchant
Harder hitting damn near everything else
More White Hits
More Killing Machine Procs/Gear procs due to more White Hits
There it is in black and white for you. 2H generates more resources and therefor has much more uptime. DW hits harder and has more burst, yet it's burst is a more unstable.
2H is the safe bet for extended battles. However, DW has more damage potential, but as I said, it's a gamble.
I prefer DW myself, the general consensus of the community is that 2H Frost performs better. I advise you try both before you decide like I did.
Okay cool. This is great. Thanks so much for the feedback!
With scent of blood 3/3 i find myself generating even more rp than Frost 2H, i can fill every GCD in UH presence.

Question concerning 2h frost priority system.
[:1]Hey there folks, I am at a loss - I have been reading the Elitist jerks thread for some time now, but i am somewhat confused as to just how i the priority system is done correctly.
Here is a quote from the thread.
"Keeping runes on cooldown is next on priority. This means getting one of each rune on cooldown before starting on the other set of runes. This is largely due to how our rune system works as of 4.0. Each pair of runes shares a internal cooldown where neither can be refilling at the same time so having one of each rune available is the same as having used all your runes in terms of when all your runes will next be available again and gives some flexibility for our procs to fit in our priority.
This means using Obliterate when both Frost and Unholy sets are up or two Death runes. This is followed by Frost Strike to keep you from reaching your max RP and wasting extra Runic Power and using any Rime procs you may have. Then Obliterating again to put as many of your runes on cooldown."
I'm sure to most this is probably straightforward and explains itself - but sadly there is just something not clicking for me.
Am I supposed to just sit on 1 frost and 1 unholy rune constantly or am I supposed to burn the runes on oblits the second I get them? I've been told one way by some and the other way by others. *fizzle* I'd like to do my absolute best with my Frost Dk so I do appreciate the help in advanced.
Just make sure one of each rune is cooling down, otherwise you're clipping rune cooldowns and that's a pretty harsh dps loss.
Also ideally you'll want two of the same of one or more runes cooling down because runic empowerment only refreshes fully depleted runes, and if you have one rune up and one cooling, then runic empowerment will not do anything.
Thanks a bunch! ^

Abomination's Might Talent - Get or skip?
[:1]Should I put the two points in this talent or put the two points into something else?
It doesn't matter to you, you're a mage.
Fail. I deleted my old Death Knight and made a new one but Blizzard doesn't update the list until later so I can't list him.
If you're going to be in a situation where you or your party/raid doesn't have the equivalent buff regularly, put the points in there.
Otherwise the strength increase is barely noticeable and you can better spend those 2 talent points elsewhere.
Thanks.

Rolling a DK
[:1]Rolling one for fun and was wondering what the best spec is for PvP/ Arena. That is mainly what I will be using this guy for and was curious as to what the best spec was these days?
Thanks!
thanks. If I want to OS as a tank, go blood with a big 2H right?
Is there a leveling guide that is up to date I can review?
Dk leveling guide? Or arena guide. Arena Junkies has all the DK arena info you could ever want. As for actually leveling, do DK starting area, then just follow the Hero's Call Board. If I remember it should send you to the Blasted Lands (go through the dark portal to Hellfire Peninsula) then just work your way left. Hellfire, Shat, Nagrand and so forth. Then you can go to Outland, then Hyjal at 80. My quick leveling quide =)
Lol Aipeikos. I am just trying to figure out where to put these damn points at what time
Thanks!
